Consciousness is loosely defined as a constellation of attributes of the mind, such as subjectivity, self-awareness, sentience, and the ability to perceive a relationship between oneself and one’s surroundings.
One guy — David Hawkins — sought to understand consciousness and even developed a measurement of it with the concept of ‘consciousness frequencies’.
According to Hawkins’ research, the scale of consciousness frequencies runs from 0-1000. Frequencies from 0 to round 200 represent self-destructive states of mind, while those above represent increasingly ilife-enhancing experiences.
At the bottom of the scale is shame, followed by apathy, grief, and fear, than anger, pride, and finally, at level 200: courage. At that point, beginning with courage, it progresses up to neutrality, acceptance, reason, then further up to love, joy, peace, and finally: level 700, which embarks on the various states of enlightenment.
The journey up this scale is representative of an individual’s spiritual evolution.
