Race is an historical issue in this country, and life has been a unique experience for me, the product of a biracial couple.
The subject of race relations makes plenty of people uncomfortable, and I’ll admit that it isn’t one of my favorite subjects because it was a source of confusion and pain for a long time. And, on the other side of the coin, I’ve seen people act lovingly and with sincerity when it came to being blind to race.
Living a life that is equal parts proving grounds and loving acceptance affected my view of race and its place in our world, and I hope that exploring these ideas will allow me to find a way to heal the racial divide and help us all understand how connected we are.
