Catch me on a sleepless, brain-on-fire night…
Discrimination – especially by the government which is supposed to be by, of, and for the people – is NOT okay.
Why would you further marginalize already-marginalized groups & expose them to the corrosive forces of hatred and discrimination?
When will we finally judge people by the content of their character, rather than their inmate and innocuous characteristics? This measure is definitely not in keeping with that noble direction; this only perpetuates the divide… shame on this and its supporters.
This was in response to a federal regulation through the Department of Health and Human Services that would allow ALL programs receiving federal funding to discriminate against anyone who goes against their religious beliefs.
This measure was passed around Thanksgiving & has a 30-day comment period that ended on the 19th… think they buried it during the holidays for a reason?
I know I shouldn’t, but I—with all my education on the subject—can’t help but go…
…when people don’t Government well.
And I know I shouldn’t be, but I’m baffled & disgusted & disappointed when people use their “religious beliefs” in a negative way.
People who call themselves Christians, then turn around and engage in behavior that isn’t in keeping with WJWD (that’s What Jesus Would Do—switching it up a bit) make me sick. I can’t beat around the bush any longer; no more mincing words…
Their devotion to keeping others down, especially by using the levers of power (that is, the government & the intangible power of fear on the human psyche), is a whole new low. It’s cowardice. It’s hypocrisy. And it’s we’ve seen a corruption of religion that I think does a major disservice to sincere believers.
It’s that dearth of substance that made me pull away from church & the Christianity mob. But, it’s also what made me seek true spirit & the people who do more than talk the talk or show up only on Sundays.
I believe the notion that You Will Know Them by Their Fruits (which can be found in the book of Matthew, chapter 7, verses 15-20 – I’ll put the full passage below).
I’ve written tons about it before, because I’m constantly trying to reconcile my upbringing in Christianity with the feelings I had that something just wasn’t right.

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
