For the People

With a new legislative session right around the corner, I have become increasingly worried about the direction our state is going to go in… And I know many people around Texas feel the same.

People are worried, nervous, scared… and with good reason – we’ve seen, time and again, the hurtful things that come out of our state. This year, we have anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-woman, anti-trans, anti-equality legislation on the horizon.

And I’m fed up. (I’ve been fed up.)

I’m tired of living under the thumb of the dogmatic, the uninformed, and the uneducated. I’m tired of the charade our state’s government is, and of the lack of respect those of us who are “different” receive. I’m tired of not having a place in this state.

Our state constitution talks about the political power of the people:

Power to The People

Just in case you want to know what a “republican form of government” means.

We, the people, have the power. We should reclaim some of it, even when we aren’t the majority.
