I’m Lucky to Have Someone to Miss

I’m flying solo this weekend for the first time in a long time. Jelaine is at the Serious Business convention in New Orleans, gearing up for a few days of seminars and soaking up The Big Easy scene.

As she was getting her things ready by the front door this morning, she said something really sweet that’s been stuck in my head all day:

“I’m glad to be able to miss you.”

Better believe I was devastated by the beauty in that. Like, periodically-pausing-and-clutching-my-invisible-strand-of-pearl-style drama. It struck me how wonderful it is to have something worth missing, something to anxiously anticipate. Spending time with Jelaine is that something for me; she’s my perfect travel companion on this expedition called Life, and I enjoy the journey so much with her
